About
Hi, I'm Mike
Trainee Sport and Exercise Psychologist and founder of Psych 4 Sport.
How I got here

Like a lot of people in sport psychology, my route in started with sport itself. I was a footballer, and an injury ended my playing ambitions.
During that time, my academy director introduced me to imagery work. He later became the England men's psychologist, and that experience showed me how much the mental side of sport shapes what happens on the pitch.
I've since spent over two decades in education, including lecturing in sport, exercise and health psychology, before setting up my own practice. Today I work with individuals and teams across a range of sports, from football and golf to tennis and running.
Training and standards
Working the right way
I'm a Trainee Sport and Exercise Psychologist on the CASES Sport and Exercise Psychology Accreditation Route (SEPAR), which leads to HCPC registration. That means my work is supervised by a qualified practitioner and follows professional ethical standards, including confidentiality and safeguarding.
What I believe
People first, athletes second
Performance matters, but so does the person. The best results come when athletes understand themselves, enjoy their sport and have skills that last beyond one season.
What to expect
